Introducing: Roman Foot Soldiers

To continue supporting new fresh talents from Indonesian music scene, Sinjitos Records is now introducing one of the freshest band from Jakarta scene, Roman Foot Soldiers. Formed in Vancouver, Canada and took their name from their fascination over epic war movies, the sextet offered an eclectic variation of sounds with indie pop as its musical backbone. The results are a set of catchy, uplifting tunes that can be described as "refreshing just like a summer breeze". Although they are relatively unknown, songs written by Tim (vocals), Reza (bass), Gogor (guitar), Pria (guitar), Josh (keys) and Luky (drums) spoke by themselves and quickly drawn attention from anyone who were lucky enough to catch them. In a self-organized gig in Hard Rock Cafe Jakarta, Roman Foot Soldiers successfully awed the unsuspecting audiences with their repertoirs.

To further introduce the band to wider audience, Sinjitos Records launched a free single from Roman Foot Soldiers called "Streets Without Signs" that can be downloaded and distributed freely. The band will enter the studio to work on their debut album in 2011.

There Will Be Blood: Never Mind The Brandals, Here's BRNDLS

Sinjitos Records proudly present the new free, downloadable single "Start Bleeding!" from BRNDLS, the new incarnation of Jakarta's rock n' roll heroes The Brandals. The new moniker is not only signaled another new musical ventures from The Brandals but also marked the band's new lineup with PM (guitar) and Radit (bass) joining longtime members Tony (guitar) and the Annash brothers Eka (vocal) and Rully (drums). "Start Bleeding" will serve as a teaser for the upcoming BRNDLS album "DGNR8" , their first since 2007's "Brandalisme". The new album was produced by Joseph Saryuf and will be released by Sinjitos Records on January 2011.

Lyrically, "Start Bleeding!" is another example of the band's sharp social commentary. It documented the recent Indonesia's condition: a nation in tatters and suffering from the endless political turmoils and manipulations. The politicians' greedy and "blood-sucking" nature is the main inspiration behind "Start Bleeding!"'s gruesome and cynical lyrics. Musically, it is a departure from the trademark The Brandals' traditional rock n' roll sound to raunchier, more distorted yet fresher sound. The song's modern production and Eka's singing style will definitely surprise everyone. It need to be heard to believed.

"Start Bleeding" was released on the internet on Nov. 16th at 6 PM and received mainly positive feedbacks from fans and fellow musicians. It reached 1,000 downloads in less than 24 hours and the number keeps counting.

Introducing Bayu Risa (And Download "Love Song" Single For Free!)

Sinjitos Record is proudly present another great new artist in its roster, the dance music extraordinaire Bayu Risa. If you know him from his previous band PASTO, Bayu will pleasantly surprise you with his fresh new sound of hip-hop, funk, soul, and electro crossover.

Bayu Risa was born as Bayu Purwadi Risakotta in Depok, October 6, 1983. He was known as a member of Rn'B group PASTO. With them, Bayu released their debut album that was produced by Glenn Fredly under Rame-Rame People Records and distributed by RPM. Despite the band’s increasing fame, Bayu Risa decided to leave the band in 2008.

Shortly after leaving PASTO, in 2009 Bayu Risa released his first single “Inner Beauty” which he wrote himself. When producing his first single, Bayu Risa was helped by several friends, one of them is famous arranger David “Tities” Salanggamo that mixed and arranged the “Inner Beauty” single.

Currently, Bayu Risa is preparing his debut solo record under Sinjitos Records. The yet-to-be titled album will be released in October 2010. To give you a little taste of the album, we have picked “Love Song” as a downloadable single. Feel free to download it, distribute it, and tell your friends and foes about it. Spead the news!

How how are you guys? We know we haven't update this thing for quite some time, pardon our chronic laziness.

Many things had happened in the Sinjitos camp during our days of blog-posting absence that are hopefully worth your time, if you haven't read it on our Facebook and Twitter (twitter.com/sinjitos) pages. First, we did some shows with Monkey to Millionaire, Santamonica, and The Porno in Solo, Yogyakarta, and Bogor for "Lantai Merah" tour awhile ago. It was a great success, other than the ransacking thugs in Yogya show that forced us to stop the gig before Monkey to Millionaire can play. Don't worry, Yogyakarta. We will be back! The Bogor show also featured some upcoming artists that could be in our roster soon: former Pasto member Bayu Risa, longtime noise-rockers Denial, and fresh psychedelic rock n' roll machine The Black Mustangs. You will hear more about them very, very soon. Other than them, we still a couple more surprises in our back pockets, so stay tune.

Other news is Santamonica's "Bobsessed" and Monkey to Millionaire's "Strange Is The Song In Our Conversation" are nominated in Indonesian Cutting Edge Music Awards (ICEMA) 2010 in the Favorite Alternative Song Category. We are not hoping much other than scoring some free foods on the actual award show but grabbing something home would be cool, plus it will give us and the bands a reason to post something on our Facebook pages.

That also explains the missing detail on the album credits and non-existed band photos. We'll definitely do something about it. Monkey to Millionaire: Mini Tour and New T-Shirt+EP Package Announced

Monkey to Millionaire, supported by Santamonica and The Porno will again embark a mini tour in several cities in Java, started from Solo and Yogyakarta this March 2010. The Solo show will held on Saturday, March 13, 2010 on Teater Taman Budaya Jawa Tengah, Klentingan, Solo from 19.00. The Yogyakarta show will be announced soon as well as other shows in Bogor and Bandung.

Another news, we will release "Strange Is The Song in Our Conversation EP" and new T-shirt package that can be pre-ordered by e-mail ( m2m.strange@gmail.com ) or contacting Benedict Pardede through Facebook. The EP itself will contain three previously unreleased tracks as well as "Strange Is The Song In Our Conversation" single.

Indonesians Dominated in 2009 Junksounds Awards, Monkey To Millionaire Won Breakthrough Act Title

Indonesian bands sweep the awards in the 2009 Junksounds Awards by winning nine top spots out of ten categories. From the winners' list, Monkey to Millionaire won the Best Breakthrough Act award and the runner up place in the Album/EP Of The Year category. Too bad, this isn't a freaking SEA Games, or all of us would be showered by phat checks, bonuses and a return trip to Bali.

We also would like to state our apology for those who can't get in for free. But we tried our best to smuggle people into the venue, and ended up cramming approximately 600 people into the place. After being postponed since December, Monkey to Millionaire's "Lantai Merah" is finally released and can be purchased in Aksara Bookstore outlets and Musiklub Pondok Indah Mal II since May 16, followed by others stores like Aquarius (all branches),Music+ (all branches), and World of Music Senayan City.

The album will be available nationally in all Disc Tarra and Societie outlets before the end of this week.

Santamonica is now confirmed to play in Gilles Peterson' Worldwide Festival in Singapore in the event's closing day on Sunday, 10 May 2008.

Yes, it was a sudden announcement by the organizers, only one day before the show time and the duo is probably now still shoving their equipments into their luggage before catching their plane.

This will be their first official performance in duo format (without additional players and crews' backing, which means no paid holiday and freebies for us. Bummer.) So, if you happened to be in town, you might want to check them out.

Santamonica could be on its way to Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festival in Singapore, after being qualified at the first phase of its Asia-Pacific Talent Search along with nine other bands. The winner will be hand picked by a team of judges headed by Mr. Paterson himself to play in the last day of the festival.

Gilles Peterson is a famed DJ in BBC' Radio 1, the founder of influential record labels Acid Jazz Records and Talking Loud, and directly responsible for the success of diverse range of acts from Erykah Badu, Jamiroquai, to Incognito and Brand New Heavies (yes, we Wiki'd him).

Hi, how are you?

First, we are apologizing for the continuing delay for the release of Monkey to Millionaire's "Lantai Merah", which now are set to be released at February, 28 2009...hopefully. Sorry, for making this album to sounds like "Chinese Democracy", but it definitely will be released. All the tracks has been recorded and mixed, with some production-stuff that are left to be deal with. We even re-shot "Replika" music video. Now, we are presenting you Monkey to Millionaire's "Rockumentary" from the new video shoots for "Replika" that we did last month. Should be good enough to watch while waiting for the album to come out.
